EXPERIENCE
ACADEMIC GUIDANCE
• Delivered lesson plans as a substitute Teacher in 7 different School Districts throughout the Bay Area. Subject areas included: Ethics & Morality, World History, U.S. History, Government, English (1 – 4), Music, Art, Drama, PE and general Math and Science.
• Developed classroom presentations to disseminate information about colleges, funding and graduation requirements.
• Designed and implemented College Application Mentoring programs.
• Assisted students with the College application and funding/scholarship processes.
• Consulted with students, parents/guardians and community agencies to ensure academic success.
• Utilized Career Assessment tools as well as interest and “Work Value” tools to help students and parents define post-High School planning strategies.
• Provided letters of recommendation and assisted students with Personal Statements on college applications.
COUNSELING/CONSULTING
• Consulted with teachers, administrators, community agencies and parents on counseling intervention strategies for the classroom, students and families.
• Provided guidance, coaching and mentoring to students re: curricula, career and socialization issues.
• Conducted conflict mediation (student/student, student/teacher, student/parent).
• Counseled students and parents on attendance and/or behavior issues.
• Conducted both group and individual counseling sessions with youth, adults and families.
• Performed crisis intervention and on-going services to victims and their families.
TRAINING AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
• Consulted with teachers and counseling staff on classroom and school wide strategies for students, such as in-house suspension and School to College/Career programs.
• Developed an in-house suspension program designed to intervene whenever there is a threat/disruption to the educational process (The Opportunity Center).
• Researched and developed lectures and structured experiences for educational environments.
• Created and piloted a program designed to address developmental issues that affect learning, teaching and parenting (“Life Skills: Building Character through Understanding and Choice”).

• Served on the SDMT (Site Decision Making Team) and the Faculty Council.
• Served on the Management Teams at Madison Middle School and Oakland Tech High School.
• Coordinated overlapping school based programming with community agencies and school staff for the San Lorenzo, Castro Valley, Hayward, and Oakland school districts.
• Supervised Intervention Counselors (and interns) for Project Eden's outreach program.
• Directed all staff and functions of the Temporary Academic Placement program (alternative to suspension program, San Lorenzo Unified School District).
