It seems as if no place even takes applications anymore. Almost all refer you to their careers page on their website. It seems as if the walk in is completely outdated, and not worth doing. Continue

There was a change to google's search ranking algorithm called panda, recently, and it seems to have had a negative impact on the placement of universe.jobs rank on google results.
For example, prior to the change, my universe.jobs profile was always the number one listing when searching on my name, and now it is often not even on the first page.
I've known other members who have seen their universe.jobs page fall of their search results…

I, chad hatten, have had recent experience with the difficulty of overcoming questions of character, when searching for employment. There is unrelated news about another chad hatten that ranks fairly high on google, and it has harmed my employment prospects. Nearly every employer will run a simple google search on a prospective employee these days.

While the rest of the country struggles with employment, the Texas economy, and Houston economy, continue to outperform the rest of the country. Texas has one of the two or three lowest unemployment rates in the country. The unemployment rate in Texas has consistently been at, or below, half that of the rest of the country.

I've run across many scams on craigslist, one of which involves scammers pretending to be some type of payment processor, needing your help.
They often claim to be a foreign bank, needing help processing payments. They then send you worthless and fruadulent checks. They are hoping that you'll be foolish enough to buy into the scam. I had one send me a check, and state I could keep a portion and then send the rest on via western union.
