Tonight I received an email from a Charlotte group called OD from the Edge. After a summer of hiatus this group has officially launched as the new professional Association for folks in the OD trade who have backgrounds in Organizational Development, Training, Industrial / Organizational Psychology, and consulting. The meetings are quite retro with a return to the language and lore of grad school. I find myself raising my language game past my current pop culture 300 word dictionary. Ah, I remember, I once talked and wrote this way....... I guess email theraphy along with tweet overload has lowered my IQ at least 15 points.

I suggest that everyone join, or in my case start a group. 20 years ago as an OD intern at First Union National Bank, me and my office mate met 2 like minded crazies from  Bank of America. Over drinks at the Westin Bar we sat long at night discussing the challenges in our profession (dealing with crazy dysfuctional leaders and team). I can't remember if I learned much, but I have a good time and made quite a bit of friends -- and we named our little group the Carolinas OD Network. 20 years later, after 100's of members and hundreds of meetings this group is going strong  -- take that LinkedIn groups :)

So join groups ....AND NOT JUST THESE DAMN ONLINE ONES....get out there and connect, talk, have fun, and network. Do it twice a month.......

Maybe you will one day be the old founder in the room......
