Welcome to the first of several upcoming blog posts in the Universe.jobs community aimed at helping users understand how to search for employment and make the most of the features, tools and resources available with this unique network of interactive, community-driven, job related sites.

This post is going to focus on the basics of searching for employment using The .Jobs Universe.

For a more traditional and broad search, go to http://jobs.jobs. Select your location from the map. Your selection determines what appears on the next screen. If you pick the United States for example, you will be prompted to choose a state. From this point, you can browse by city, top searches or occupation.

The other option is to simply type in a term or location into the browser. For example, if you live in Austin, Texas, you can enter Austin.jobs into your web browser and instantly see all jobs in that market (see screen shot below).

You can also combine a city and an occupation in the URL. For example a nurse in Austin can type AustinNursing.jobs into the browser and, in return, will see all nursing opportunities specific to Austin (see screen shot below).

Stay tuned for our next post which will highlight the social media integration. Have questions or comments? Post them below!
