Writing a blog is a great way to express your thoughts on a subject or present facts you believe would be beneficial for others to read. The good thing about blogging is you don’t have to be a professional writer to get involved.

We integrated blogging on Universe.jobs as a way for members to share valuable insights, advice and experiences. Typically blogs should be around 250-500 words, although the length may vary as necessary. We invite all members to blog, although we do moderate to ensure content is appropriate. A key thing to remember about blogging is to know who your audience is. People visit Universe.Jobs and become members for 3 primary reasons: to change or obtain a new career, to recruit individuals for employment, and to network with other professionals. Should you choose to submit a blog, it should be written in a way that provides insight or presents an interesting glimpse into the professional lifestyle, whether it be useful tips, suggestions, facts on a subject, or personal experiences that others can learn from.

In addition to blogs, we also give users the ability to use forums. In general, forums are created to answer a question or to get feedback on a subject. They are a great way to sample a small population and to find out what other people think, and can be a very powerful tool. Each conversation topic in a forum is called a “thread” and different threads can form from one forum topic or post. Our forums are categorized into 4 areas: job seeker, uncategorized (think of it as “other” or “misc”), recruiter and help center. The job seeker category is meant for forums around job searching, or asking for feedback on best practices for applying for a job. The recruiter category is for users that are in a recruiting function or talent acquisition, whereas help center is for questions about the community. The other category is for anything that we might not have covered, but could potentially fall into a forum at some point.
