Veteran & Military Family Outreach

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported in March of 2011 that the unemployment rate for veterans who served in the military at any time since September 2001—a group referred to as Gulf War-era II veterans—was 11.5 percent in 2010. The jobless rate for veterans of all eras combined was 8.7 percent, compared with 9.4 percent for nonveterans. About 25 percent of Gulf War-era II veterans reported having a service-connected disability in July 2010, compared with about 13 percent of all veterans. Additionally, military spouses, dependents and caregivers are often challenged in locating employment while their loved ones are serving the country.

Employers find it difficult to translate how their opportunities match up with military occupations, as well as how to get their openings in front of military spouses, dependents and caregivers. The cutting-edge technology of the .jobs Universe bridges this gap by helping companies increase recruitment outreach efforts to veterans and military families through veterans.jobs and military.jobs.
